Nestled in the Great Lakes Region of East Africa, talented Rwandan swimmers have always found their way to the water. Many come from rural communities, drawn by passion alone. But without resources for school fees, coaching, and basic living costs, too many leave the sport before reaching their potential.

Ishyaka Swim Club works to change that.

Operating across Kigali (Rwanda’s capital), and Karongi and Rutsiro (on the shores of idyllic Lake Kivu), ISC provides the stipends, school fees, swim facilities, and coaching access swimmers need to keep competing. 

We invest in coaches too, building opportunities for Rwandan and international coaches to train side by side. These exchanges run both ways: those who come to Rwanda leave changed by what they find here, and carry the lessons of Rwanda back home with them.

ISC's vision also goes beyond its own roster. A national swim culture cannot be built by one team alone, so we organize meets that bring Rwandan athletes together, building competition, community, and a foundation for the sport to grow.

Removing the barriers that stand between talented swimmers and the sport they love, ISC opens the lanes of competition to any Rwandan youth with the drive to compete.
